Overview

Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ESCADV) is a community-based nonprofit that supports and empowers survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The organization provides compassionate, survivor-centered services designed to help individuals heal, regain stability, and live free from abuse.

Mission

ESCADV’s mission is to provide support and empowerment to victims of domestic and sexual abuse and to offer programs that increase awareness and prevention in the community.

Every person is empowered with the right to be safe and free from domestic and sexual abuse.

Services

Emergency Shelter

ESCADV provides emergency shelter for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Shelter services are housed at Hope Harbor, which also includes administrative and advocacy offices and an affiliated workforce/affordable housing apartment complex.

Advocacy and Support

ESCADV offers advocacy services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, including:
- Client services advocacy
- Bilingual domestic violence and sexual assault advocacy
- Children’s advocacy

Advocacy services are available to survivors whether or not they use shelter services.

Outreach and Community Education

ESCADV provides outreach and education to increase community awareness and prevention of domestic and sexual violence. Staff participate in community events (such as farmers markets, community days, and faith-based events) to share information and connect people with resources.

Governance

ESCADV is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors responsible for legal, financial, organizational, employment, and planning obligations. The board is a working board with members serving on committees that include:
- Community Outreach
- Organizational
- Program and Policy
- Fund Development
- Financial

Services are intended for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, including those seeking shelter, advocacy, and supportive resources.
