International Student Exchange (ISE) – South East Regional Office

Mission & Overview:
International Student Exchange (ISE) is a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1982 that has provided quality exchange programs for over 30,000 exchange students. The organization is designated by the U.S. Department of State to run J-1 programs for cultural enrichment and public diplomacy purposes, and is fully-listed with CSIET (Council on Standards for International Educational Travel).

Programs & Services:
Inbound Programs:
- J-1 secondary school exchange sponsorship for international students
- Academic Year Programs (AYP) with 5, 10, or 12-month exchange options
- Student placement with volunteer host families across the United States
- 24/7 support services for exchange students and host families
- Project HELP community service program offering volunteer opportunities

Outbound Programs:
- Study abroad programs for American high school students
- High school abroad programs
- Summer/short-term abroad options
- Travel & Study Abroad Ambassador Scholarships
- International partner agency network for placement and support

Special Programs:
- IFF (International Forest Family) residential high school program in Oregon
- Optional excursions and student tours through partner MPD Tours
- Cultural exchange opportunities with nature-focused experiences including camping trips and beach excursions

Community Engagement:
The organization relies on volunteer host families and Area Representatives who serve as the local face of ISE in communities across the United States. Area Representatives must be at least 25 years old and work on a contract basis to find host families and supervise exchange students.
