Rappahannock Area Office on Youth

Mission: To promote healthy and responsible behavior among youth and young adults through leadership opportunities, skill development, and support for families. The organization provides Mandated Services, Residential Services, and Intervention Programs designed to foster positive development and responsible decision-making.

Services:

• Mandated Services: Including interventions for youth involved in the juvenile justice system.
• Residential Services: Operating the Chaplin Youth Center, a 12-bed community-based residential facility serving male and female youth ages 12-17.
• Regional Programs: Specific to the Fredericksburg area (serving City of Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford Counties) and Northern Neck region (serving Essex, Lancaster, Northumberland, Richmond, and Westmoreland Counties).
• Referrals handled include: CHINS, Diversion, Probation, and Parole.
• Training and Workshops: Providing educational opportunities for staff, families, and the community to promote youth development.
• Partnerships: Collaborating with local Court Services Units, Schools, Departments of Social Services, and other community organizations.
