About This Service
Mission:
The Safe Houses Program is dedicated to providing emergency shelter and transitional housing for individuals who have experienced sexual and domestic violence.
Services Provided
- Emergency Shelter: Immediate, confidential housing for survivors of intimate partner and domestic violence.
- Transitional Housing: Supportive, community-based living environments designed to foster healing and stability.
- Counseling: Access to trauma-informed counseling services for survivors.
- Safety Planning: Assistance with developing personalized safety plans to address ongoing risks.
- Critical Care Coordination: Help with connecting survivors to essential community resources and services.
- Community Resources: Referrals and connections to additional support networks and programs.
Who Is Served
- Survivors of sexual and domestic violence, regardless of race, gender, age, national origin, gender identity or expression, faith, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or geographic location.
- All services are provided free of charge.
Eligibility
- Anyone who has experienced intimate partner or domestic violence is eligible for services.
- There are no restrictions based on demographic factors or geographic location within Virginia.
Access and Service Area
- Services are accessible to residents of Louisa County and surrounding regions, including the Greater Richmond area.
- For those outside Richmond, a statewide hotline is available for resources and referrals.
Additional Information
- The program operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
- Survivors can access services by calling the Greater Richmond Regional hotline or the Virginia Family Violence & Sexual Assault Hotline for statewide support.
