GrowRVA Farmers Markets - SNAP Acceptance

Mission: GrowRVA's markets aim to increase access to fresh, local foods for individuals and families with low income by accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits at participating farmers markets.

Services Provided

• SNAP Benefit Acceptance: SNAP recipients can use their Electronic Benefits Card at GrowRVA's booth at participating farmers markets.
• Token System: After deciding how much to spend, staff assist with the transaction and provide tokens that can be used like cash at market vendors (excluding alcoholic beverages, pet food, non-food items, or prepared/ready-to-eat foods).
• Token Flexibility: Unused tokens can be saved for future visits or returned for a refund to the SNAP account.

• Service is available to all SNAP recipients, including those from Louisa County and surrounding regions, as long as they can access GrowRVA markets.
