Central Virginia Task Force on Domestic Violence in Later Life

Mission: The Central Virginia Task Force on Domestic Violence in Later Life is dedicated to raising awareness and improving the community response to women aged 50 and older who experience domestic, sexual, or family violence.

Overview

This local partnership of organizations has been active since 1998 and is administered by the Virginia Center on Aging. The task force focuses on supporting older women who are victims of abuse, ensuring that their unique needs are addressed through collaborative community efforts.

Services Provided

• Training and Consultation: Offers specialized training and consultation for law enforcement, criminal justice professionals, aging service providers, domestic violence and sexual assault programs, and allied service professionals.
• Resource Provision: Supplies resources and guidance to help professionals work collaboratively in responding to abuse cases involving women aged 50 and over.
• Community Awareness: Works to increase awareness of domestic, sexual, and family violence affecting older women.
