Mission:
Warriors First Inc. is a veteran-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Buckingham County, Virginia, dedicated to providing temporary housing, financial assistance, and holistic support to at-risk military veterans, service members, and first responders, with a special focus on rural communities.

Who They Serve:

• At-risk military veterans and service members of all branches, including National Guard and Reserve members
• First responders
• Individuals in rural and semi-rural communities, including those in and around Louisa County, VA
• No discrimination based on duty status, years served, or years out of service

Core Services:

• Temporary Housing: Emergency and transitional housing solutions for veterans and first responders facing homelessness or domestic abuse
• Financial Assistance: Temporary emergency bill pay and financial support to prevent utility shutoffs and stabilize living situations
• Employment Assistance: Job search guidance, employment resource connections, and support for job placement
• Mental Health Support: Counseling for PTSD and other mental health challenges, peer-to-peer support, and connections to additional mental health resources
• Domestic Abuse Resources: Connections to shelters and support for those facing domestic violence
• Personal Growth & Empowerment: 1-on-1 personal development, financial and self-management training, and holistic life and wellness coaching
• Care Management: Connection to a network of community organizations, partners, and care management programs for comprehensive support

Unique Focus:

• Prioritizes rural communities, addressing barriers such as isolation, limited transportation, and lack of local services
• Targets underserved populations who may not meet traditional service criteria (e.g., minimum active duty or years served)
• Plans to develop micro-home communities in rural Virginia, starting in Buckingham County, to provide longer-term transitional housing

Eligibility Requirements:

• Open to all veterans, service members, and first responders in need, regardless of service status or length
• Focus on those at risk of homelessness or suicide, especially in rural areas

Additional Programs:

• Volunteer opportunities for community members, including leadership, project coordination, and grant writing roles
• Community service projects and awareness campaigns
• Partnerships with other organizations to expand reach and resources

Service Area:

• Based in Buckingham County, VA, but serves rural communities throughout Virginia, including Louisa County and surrounding regions.
