Overview:

The 3511 P Street RVA Community Fridge is a mutual aid initiative providing free access to food for anyone in need. This community fridge and pantry location operates on a take-what-you-need, leave-what-you-can basis, supporting food security and reducing food waste in the Richmond area and surrounding regions, including Louisa County residents who are able to travel to the site.

Services Provided:

• Community Fridge: Offers fresh produce, pantry items, and general fridge materials for public access.
• Community Pantry: Provides shelf-stable, non-perishable food items for those in need.
• Prepared Meals: Accepts and distributes homemade meals, provided they are properly labeled and meet safety guidelines.

Donation Guidelines:

• All donations must be labeled with all ingredients, date of packaging/expiration, and any potential allergens (such as dairy, eggs, fish, shellfish, wheat/gluten, soy, tree nuts).
• Fresh produce, pantry items, and general fridge materials are welcomed.
• Prepared meals must follow strict guidelines, including labeling and safe preparation practices (gloves and masks recommended).
• Only homemade non-perishable/dry foods are accepted in the pantry.

Restrictions:

• Not allowed: raw meat, raw fish, alcohol, unlabeled prepared meals, expired or moldy foods, opened packages, or partially eaten food.
• Items that do not fit in the fridge or pantry should not be left outside to avoid waste.
• Items needing refrigeration should not be placed in the pantry.

Eligibility and Access:

• The fridge and pantry are open to anyone in need, with no eligibility requirements or proof of residency required.
