About This Service
Mission: To provide Virginia’s K-12 students with the economic knowledge and financial skills needed to thrive in a dynamic economy.
Services:
- Professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers in economics and personal finance.
- Institute and workshop programs at no cost to educators and school divisions.
- Support for required high school economics and personal finance courses.
- Programs such as the Governor’s Challenge, Mini Economy, Stock Market Game™, and awards and scholarships.
- Resources for classroom instruction, including curriculum materials and lesson plans.
- Advocacy for inclusion of economic concepts at all grade levels.
Service Area:
Primarily Virginia, supporting a statewide network of university-based Centers for Economic Education.

- Virginia Personal Finance Teacher Fellowship Program
- Remote Learning Lessons

- Support for teachers to meet state standards in economics and personal finance.
Impact:
Annually, VCEE serves approximately 1,900 teachers, reaching more than 190,000 students. The organization aims to foster better-informed decision makers, consumers, and citizens, and to develop a workforce equipped to meet economic challenges.
Additional Information:
VCEE is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating since 1970. It is affiliated with the Council for Economic Education and collaborates with local school divisions and universities across Virginia to enhance economic literacy education.
