National Federation of Families

Mission: To support families across the lifespan whose loved ones experience mental health and/or substance use disorders, advocating for their rights and providing peer support.

Services:

• Advocacy: Advocates at the national level for the rights of families affected by mental health and substance use disorders.
• Technical Assistance: Provides leadership and technical support to a nationwide network of family-run organizations.
• Collaboration: Works with family-serving organizations to transform healthcare systems.
• Family-Driven Approach: Ensures family voices are represented in legislation, policies, and services.
• Legislation & Policy: Develops policies, legislation, and funding mechanisms that leverage family strengths.
• Support & Resources: Offers resources to promote the wellness of families impacted by mental health and substance use issues.
• Certification: Offers the only national certification for family/parent peer support specialists, known as Certified Family Peer Specialists™.
• Annual Family Conference: Hosts an annual event bringing together families, advocates, youth, and peer support workers.
