About This Service

Mission:
NJCTL is a duly authorized New Jersey Institution of Higher Education and a leading U.S. producer of physics teachers and free, editable materials for teaching K-12 and AP mathematics, science, and computer science. The organization is also a rapidly growing producer of new teachers in chemistry, mathematics, and computer science.

Services and Programs:

  • Online Graduate School of Education: NJCTL offers 100% online, asynchronous, and self-paced graduate-level courses and degree programs for educators nationwide.
  • Alternate Route Pathways: Individuals with a bachelor's degree in any subject and any GPA can enroll in alternate route programs to become certified teachers in STEM fields.
  • Endorsement Programs:
  • Middle School Science Add-On Endorsement: A 22-credit program for currently certified teachers to add a middle school science endorsement. Includes instruction in science content and teaching methods, online coaching, and Praxis exam preparation.
  • Computer Science Endorsement & MSTL Degree: A 32-credit Master of Science in Teaching and Learning Computer Science, designed for current teachers to add a computer science endorsement. Includes content courses, field experience, and Praxis preparation.
  • Free Editable K-12 & AP Teaching Materials: NJCTL provides free, editable resources for teaching mathematics, science, and computer science at all grade levels.
  • Graduate & Continuing Education Credits: Affordable online graduate courses and master's degrees, with tuition as low as $225 per credit and no additional fees or textbook costs.
  • Praxis Prep Courses: Preparation courses for teachers seeking certification in various STEM subjects.
  • Financial Support: Personal loan financing is available for those taking NJCTL courses and programs in the United States.

Eligibility and Access:

  • Anyone with a bachelor's degree in any subject area and any GPA may enroll in NJCTL courses and programs.
  • No prior mathematics or science background is required for enrollment.
  • Programs are designed for current and prospective teachers, with a focus on those seeking additional endorsements or graduate degrees in STEM education.
  • While some programs are approved specifically by the New Jersey Department of Education, NJCTL encourages prospective students from other states to confirm acceptance of credits with their local districts or state departments of education.

Additional Information:

  • NJCTL is accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) and is recognized by the NJ Office of the Secretary of Higher Education.
  • Credits may be transcribed for use in other states or for salary advancement, depending on district or state requirements.
  • Up to 12 NJCTL credits may be applied toward a doctorate degree from the American College of Education.
