National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV)

Mission:

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) is dedicated to leading, mobilizing, and raising voices to support efforts that demand changes to the conditions that lead to domestic violence, including patriarchy, privilege, racism, sexism, and classism. NCADV is committed to supporting survivors, holding offenders accountable, and empowering advocates.

Services and Programs:

• Public Policy Advocacy:
• Collaborates with national organizations to promote legislation and policies that protect and serve victims and survivors of domestic violence.
• Works to change the narrative surrounding domestic violence at the macro level, aiming for a society where domestic violence is never tolerated or minimized.
• Education and Training:

• Offers monthly webinars that explore emerging issues, best practices, and research in the domestic violence field, enhancing advocates' skills and knowledge.
• Awareness and Community Engagement:
• Operates a National Speakers Bureau to connect survivors with the community and foster dialogue about domestic violence issues.
• Runs the "Remember My Name" project, memorializing women, children, and men killed by abusers in the U.S. since 1994.
• Financial Empowerment:
• In partnership with the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), provides financial education webinars to help victims and survivors rebuild financially after experiencing domestic violence.
• Youth and Prevention:
• Implements "Take A Stand FOR Healthy Relationships," a program in collaboration with Discovery Education, teaching students about healthy relationships, communication, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.
• Gun Violence Prevention:
• Partners with organizations to launch initiatives like Disarm Domestic Violence, providing resources and information on state-specific laws regarding firearm removal in domestic violence cases.
