LINCS (Literacy Information and Communication System)

Mission:
LINCS is a federally funded initiative designed to support adult education and literacy in the United States. The system is maintained under contract with CivicActions and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Career, Technical, and Adult Education (OCTAE).

Services and Resources:

• Resource Collection: LINCS offers a comprehensive collection of resources for adult educators, including instructional materials, research-based guides, and best practices in adult education.
• Professional Development: The platform provides access to online courses, toolkits, and professional development opportunities for adult education teachers and program administrators.
• Community for Adult Educators: LINCS hosts a community platform for adult educators to connect, share ideas, and access announcements. As of January 20, 2025, the community will be available for announcements only, with group discussions archived for reference.
• Specialized Initiatives: LINCS features federal initiatives such as the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, Integrated Education and Training (IET) resources, and support for English language learners, numeracy instruction, and workforce preparation.
• State Resources: The platform includes state-specific resources and links to federal initiatives relevant to adult education.

LINCS serves adult educators, program administrators, and organizations involved in adult education and literacy across the United States, including those in Louisa County, VA and surrounding regions. The resources are accessible online and are intended for use by professionals supporting adult learners.

Eligibility:

There are no explicit eligibility requirements for accessing LINCS resources; materials and community features are available to adult education professionals and organizations nationwide.
