About This Service

Mission:
The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission (CSPDC) is dedicated to representing and serving the local governments of Augusta, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge, and Rockingham counties, as well as the cities of Buena Vista, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Staunton, and Waynesboro, and the 11 towns within the Central Shenandoah region. The CSPDC provides high-quality planning, technical assistance, and facilitation of services to address local, regional, and state needs in a collaborative and innovative manner.

Services and Programs:

  • Land Use Planning: Assistance with comprehensive planning, zoning, and land development strategies.
  • Transportation: Coordination of regional transportation planning, including long-range transportation plans, transit, rideshare, and bicycle/pedestrian initiatives.
  • Water and Wastewater Utilities: Support for water supply planning and infrastructure development.
  • Natural Resource Management: Programs focused on environmental protection, energy, and Chesapeake Bay watershed improvement.
  • Affordable Housing: Regional housing studies and support for housing initiatives.
