Mission: Piedmont Senior Resources Area Agency on Aging, Inc. (PSR) is a private, non-profit agency dedicated to providing supportive services and advocacy for individuals aged 60 and older. The agency's mission is to enhance the quality of life for seniors, enabling them to live independently and safely in their own homes and communities.
Service Area
PSR serves residents of Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway, and Prince Edward counties in Virginia. Services are available to seniors from all socioeconomic backgrounds within these counties.

- At-Home Services: Assistance to help seniors remain independent in their homes.
- Friendship Cafes: Congregate meal programs at senior centers in each county, providing nutrition and socialization opportunities.
- Home-Delivered Meals: Nutritious meals delivered directly to the homes of eligible seniors.
- Nutrition Counseling: Guidance and support for seniors to maintain healthy diets.
- Farm Market Fresh Program: Access to fresh produce for eligible seniors.
- Non-Emergency Medical Transportation: Transportation services for medical appointments and related needs.
- Diabetes Prevention: Programs aimed at reducing the risk of diabetes among seniors.
- Legal Services: Free civil legal assistance through a partnership with Virginia Legal Aid Society (VLAS), covering issues such as Medicare/Medicaid, Social Security, SSI, SNAP, housing, family abuse, and advance directives. Legal services are targeted to those with the greatest economic or social need, at risk for institutional placement, with limited English proficiency, low-income minority seniors, and those in rural areas. Exclusions include criminal matters, post-conviction relief, euthanasia, abortion, and illegal activities.
- Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program: Advocacy for residents of long-term care facilities.
- Pet Love Program: Support for seniors in caring for their pets.
- Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP): Guidance on insurance and Medicare options.
- Resources for Seniors: Information and referral services to connect seniors with additional community resources.
Governance and Funding
Each county appoints a representative to the Board of Directors, and an Advisory Council composed of seniors, service agencies, and interested individuals provides input and recommendations. Funding is primarily through the Older Americans Act, with additional support from local governments, businesses, and individual donations.

Services are generally available to individuals aged 60 and older, with some programs specifically targeting those with the greatest economic or social need, as defined by the Older Americans Act.

PSR has been serving the region since 1978, directly assisting thousands of seniors annually with a staff of over 40 employees. The agency is committed to helping seniors maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life.
