Mission:
The Free Clinic of Culpeper, a program of the nonprofit Culpeper Wellness Foundation, is dedicated to providing confidential medical care to uninsured adults in Culpeper, Virginia. The clinic focuses on serving individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 who have incomes at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty level and do not have health insurance.
Services Provided
- Primary, Non-Urgent, and Specified Urgent Medical Care: Comprehensive care for acute illnesses (such as bronchitis) and chronic conditions (such as diabetes and heart disease).
- Dental Care: Available for clinic dental patients who have completed their critical care.
- Specialty Medical Care: Management of chronic illnesses and referrals to medical specialists as needed.
- Gynecology Care: Includes well-woman exams and pap smears.
- Diagnostic Testing: Access to necessary diagnostic procedures.
- Nutrition Counseling: Support for weight control, diabetes, and hypertension.
- Prescription Medications: A licensed pharmacy dispenses non-narcotic prescription medications, with over 8,500 prescriptions provided annually through partnerships with RxPartnership and the Medications Access Program.
- Health Education and Promotion: Educational resources and preventive maintenance opportunities for managing chronic conditions.
- Referrals: Assistance connecting patients to community resources for behavioral health, dental care, transportation, housing, literacy, employment, job training, and nutrition counseling.
Services Not Provided
- Medications that are controlled substances (pain medicines, opiates, relaxants)
- Services provided by the local Health Department (birth control, immunizations, STD screening)
- Workers’ compensation, disability, or legal claims
- Psychiatric evaluations, behavioral health, and substance abuse treatment (referred to Rappahannock Rapidan Community Services)

- Must be a resident of Culpeper
- Must be uninsured
- Must have an income at or below 300% of the federal poverty level
- Must be between 18 and 65 years old
