Journey Community Center, Inc.

Mission: Journey Community Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families in need throughout rural Central Virginia, including residents of Louisa County and surrounding areas.

Services and Programs:

• Food Assistance: The organization has provided groceries and hot meals to families facing food insecurity, including special outreach to dialysis patients' families. The Journey Station Restaurant operates at the Center, serving multiple meals per week and offering 'meals with a mission.'
• Thrift Store: The Amelia Thrift Store offers affordable clothing and household goods, with proceeds supporting local missions. The store also holds community giveaways, distributing coats, shoes, jeans, and backpacks to children and families, especially during the holidays and back-to-school season.
• Youth and Family Support: Journey Community Center has run free after-school mentoring programs for children in grades 1-4, providing snacks, homework help, and enrichment activities. Community events for children and teens include rock painting, egg hunts, movie nights, and outdoor adventures.
• Senior Services: The Center offers free classes for seniors, such as computer literacy, budgeting, and healthy eating.
• Transitional Housing (Planned): Plans are underway for "Journey Village," a transitional living community to provide temporary shelter and support for individuals working to regain stability.
