About the Organization: Founded in 1972, Chesapeake Humane Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is funded by private donors and does not receive government subsidies. The Society supports the homeless and underserved animals of Chesapeake through comprehensive programs and services.

Primary Services:

• Low-cost veterinary services including spay/neuter, dental cleanings, soft tissue surgeries, and vaccination services
• Pet adoption program for dogs, cats, and small animals
• Crisis Boarding program providing temporary boarding and medical care for pets of families in need
• Foster care program for animals awaiting adoption
• Pet Food Pantry distributing food to pet owners in need
• Little (human) Food Pantry providing food assistance to families
• Resources and case management services to families experiencing hardship

Facilities and Hours:

The organization operates two locations in Chesapeake:

Veterinary Clinic: All clinic services are by appointment only, operating Tuesday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm, closed Saturday through Monday.

Adoption Center: Open Tuesday through Sunday from 12pm to 4pm, closed Mondays. All adoption applications must be received by 3:30pm.

Additional Information:

The organization serves on the Chesapeake Animal Services Advisory Board and offers volunteer opportunities including fostering pets. They maintain wish lists for supply donations and provide various ways for community members to support their mission through donations and sponsorship programs.
