About This Service
Mission: To provide no-cost hearing aids to individuals with measured hearing loss and verifiable financial need.
Services:
- Collection of used hearing aids of all types
- Selection of the newest and best hearing aids for matching with approved applicants
- Reconditioning of hearing aids to like-new condition
- Fitting of reconditioned hearing aids by testing audiologists
The organization was established in 1993 by volunteer members of the Richmond James River Lions Club. It aims to help residents in South-Central Virginia, including 23 counties and 7 cities, by providing affordable hearing solutions. The program has grown significantly over the years, supported by Lions Clubs and grants, and is now a District Service Unit serving a broad geographic area. The organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to improving hearing health for those in need.
