Virginia Board for People with Disabilities

Mission: To promote policies, programs, and services that meet the needs of people with developmental disabilities (DD) and their families in a respectful manner.

Services:

• Advocacy for policy and program development
• Public comment and feedback mechanisms
• Support for community supports, healthcare, education, employment, and self-advocacy initiatives
• Public education and outreach

The organization is composed of appointed members, including individuals with DD and family members, who work to identify needs and promote inclusive policies. It also provides opportunities for public input and engages with various state agencies to improve services for residents with disabilities, including those in Louisa County, VA. The Board actively collaborates with community groups, advocates, and government agencies to ensure that the needs of people with disabilities are addressed respectfully and effectively.
