About This Service
Mission: SVASC is an open-admission municipal animal shelter serving Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro, with some programs and partnerships that may extend to neighboring regions.
Services Provided:
- Adoption: Houses dozens of animals seeking forever homes, including cats, dogs, barn cats, and other pets.
- Foster Program: Relies on foster families to care for animals when shelter space is limited.
- Lost & Found: Works to reunite stray animals with their owners.
- Owner Surrender: Accepts owner-surrendered pets for rehoming.
- Low-Cost Spay/Neuter: Partners with organizations to offer affordable spay/neuter services for animals in their service area.
- Trap/Neuter/Release (TNR): Supports community efforts to manage feral cat populations through TNR.
- Pet Food Pantry: Provides surplus dog and cat food to community members in need.
- Community Assistance: Offers responsible pet rehoming and other support services.
