Mission: The Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority (VHWDA) is dedicated to ensuring that the Commonwealth of Virginia, including Louisa County, has a skilled and robust healthcare workforce.

What They Do

• Research & Data: VHWDA conducts research to identify gaps and needs in Virginia's healthcare workforce, providing valuable data for policy and planning.
• Education & Training: Collaborates with educational institutions to develop and implement training programs tailored to workforce needs, including Community Health Worker Training and Direct Support Professional (DSP) programs.
• Strategic Partnerships: Partners with stakeholders across the state to create solution-focused initiatives that address healthcare workforce shortages, especially in underserved and rural areas.
• Support for Underserved Populations: Through the Virginia Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program, VHWDA helps recruit, train, and retain healthcare professionals committed to serving underserved communities, including Louisa County residents.
