Mission: Voices for Virginia’s Children champions public policies and legislation that achieve positive and equitable outcomes for young people across the Commonwealth, including Louisa County.
Who They Are
Founded in 1994, Voices for Virginia’s Children is the only independent, multi-issue child policy and advocacy organization in Virginia. They focus on children whose needs are often overlooked, using data-driven research and policy analysis to identify unmet needs and recommend solutions.
Key Services & Impact Areas
- Policy Advocacy: Advocates for improvements in early childhood education, foster care and adoption, health and mental health, and family economic security.
- KIDS COUNT Data Center: Maintains a comprehensive database with over 200 indicators on child well-being at state and locality levels, including Louisa County.
- Community Engagement: Mobilizes leaders, policymakers, and citizens to support child-focused policy initiatives.
- Youth Development: Runs Virginia’s Youth in Action, a 9-month program empowering young advocates to engage with lawmakers and advance their communities.
