About This Service
Mission: The LIFEworks Project is dedicated to creating a community free of homelessness and food insecurity, ensuring that no one is underserved regardless of race, religion, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, or income.
Services & Programs:
- Food Justice Initiatives:
- Operates a mobile food pantry serving senior communities and a client-choice food pantry (River City Bread Basket) in Waynesboro, VA, addressing food deserts and increasing access to healthy, nutritious food.
- Partners with Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, Feeding America, local sponsors, and growers to maximize food distribution impact.
- Micro-Support Grants:
- Provides microgrants for individuals facing urgent needs not covered by traditional social services (excluding rent/mortgage assistance). Aid is available up to twice per year, subject to eligibility and available funding.
- Community Engagement:
- Hosts events such as "Jobfest" to connect job seekers with employers and second-chance opportunities.
- Offers volunteer opportunities and collaborates with local organizations, schools, and businesses to support community needs.
Who They Serve: Residents of Waynesboro, Staunton, Augusta County, Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, and surrounding areas—including Louisa County, VA—who are experiencing food insecurity or other practical challenges.
