Mission: To ensure every student has the supplies they need to succeed in school, regardless of their family's financial situation.

About Backpack Buddies

Backpack Buddies is a nonprofit organization founded in 2010 in Charlottesville, VA, with the goal of providing backpacks filled with essential school supplies to students in need across Virginia, including Louisa County. Since its inception, the organization has donated over 8,000 backpacks to preK-12th grade students, helping to remove barriers to academic and social success caused by lack of supplies.

Services:

• Distribution of Backpacks: Each summer, fully stocked backpacks are distributed to children in need through partnerships with local organizations, schools, and direct requests.
• Volunteer Opportunities: Youth and adults can volunteer to help raise funds, collect donations, and assemble backpacks.
• Donation Drives: Accepts both monetary and in-kind donations of school supplies, which can be shipped or dropped off at their Charlottesville address.

Backpack Buddies serves students throughout Central Virginia, including Louisa County, by working with schools and community partners to identify and reach those most in need.
