LifeBridge Academy

Mission: LifeBridge Academy is a private, nonprofit day school that makes a lasting positive impact on the health and future of Virginia's youth by offering a safe, consistent, and positive school environment for adolescents experiencing behavioral and/or emotional challenges.

Educational Program:

The school operates a trauma-competent structured and individualized program that equips students with the skills to maximize their abilities, interests and talents, allowing them success in school and life. The program serves students in grades six through twelve and addresses both educational and therapeutic needs as part of each student's comprehensive growth plan.

Target Population:

LifeBridge Academy serves adolescents who are experiencing behavioral and/or emotional challenges that are best supported in a small, structured environment. Students are equipped with the necessary academic and behavioral skills that will afford them the opportunity for a healthy, happy, and productive life.

Admission Requirements:

To be considered for the program, students must:
* Have an IQ of 70 or above
* Be between the ages of 11 and 18
* Have completed grade 5 or above
* Have a disability category on an IEP of Other Health Impaired (OHI), Specific Learning Disability (SLD), or Emotional Disability (ED)
* Have emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges that have prevented success in other, less-restrictive school environments
* Have been in a more restrictive setting like a residential setting or acute hospital and now need a "step-down" educational placement before returning to their LEA
* Be eligible for the ISAEP (GED) program

Program Structure:

Placement at LifeBridge is temporary with the goal of successfully transitioning students back to their home school. The academy does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, age, religion, military experience, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, or national origin in its programs or activities. The school is currently accepting applications for students who meet the necessary requirements.
